Orange County College Basketball : Cal Poly’s Shooting Is Too Hot for Chapman
Sean Chambers scored 24 points Friday night to lead Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to an 84-69 victory over Chapman in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. game at San Luis Obispo.
The Mustangs made 15 of 24 shots en route to a 33-27 halftime lead.
Melvin Parker added 15 points for Pomona. David Roth led Chapman with 17 and Karl Tompkins added 15.
San Luis Obispo is 6-3, 13-8. The Panthers are 5-4, 12-11.
In the Western Christian Athletic Assn.:
Christ College Irvine 89, Southwestern Baptist 84--Freshman guard Victor Townes scored a career-high 35 points to help the Eagles rally from a 44-37 halftime deficit at Phoenix.
Christ College is 4-6 in conference and 10-14 overall. Southwestern Baptist is 7-4 and 16-8.
Townes made 15 of 18 shots from the floor and had 8 rebounds. Teammate Paul Wear added 15 points.
