Farmers Insurance Exchange plans to appeal a federal judge’s damage award of $1.9 million to Diamond Claims & Investigation Services of Coos Bay, Ore., and its proprietors in a suit involving breach of contract and other improprieties by a now-disbanded Farmers’ unit . . . Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance of Los Angeles and Provident Life & Accident of Chattanooga, Tenn., terminated a letter of intent under which Provident was to have bought Transamerica Occidental’s group life and health insurance operations.
