Orange County Prep Soccer : Vlcek, Orange Hand Laguna Hills First League Loss
Senior Jim Vlcek scored all four goals Friday to lead Orange High School to a 4-2 upset victory over Laguna Hills in a Pacific Coast League boys’ soccer match at Laguna Hills.
Vlcek has scored 10 goals in his last two games. He scored six in the Panthers’ 7-0 victory over Costa Mesa Wednesday.
He has 21 goals this season.
The Panthers improved their league record to 3-3 and overall record to 11-7-2. The first-place Hawks are 5-1 and 14-4-2.
Kevin Macare and Pat Richards scored for Laguna Hills.
Woodbridge 2, Laguna Beach 2--Greg Fischbein scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick with 15 minutes left to help the Warriors earn a tie at Laguna Beach.
In the Century League:
Canyon 2, Foothill 0--Brian Lou scored one goal and had an assist on the other to lead the Comanches (5-0-1, 15-7-1) at Foothill. Fernie Sumaya scored the other Canyon goal.
Villa Park 0, Santa Ana 0--Spartan goalie David Wetzler made eight saves and the Saints’ Gilbert Vasquez had six at Santa Ana.
In the Freeway League:
Sonora 5, Fullerton 1--Graham Vernon and Jim Lambrose each scored two goals to lead the Raiders at Sonora. Sonora is 4-2 in league and 7-4-2 overall. The Indians are 2-4 and 4-10-2.
Sunny Hills 2, La Habra 1--Steve Fichtelberg scored on a penalty shot with 20 minutes left to give the Lancers (5-1, 10-2) the victory at Sunny Hills. Fichtelberg’s goal was his 13th of the year. Juan Rasisla scored Sunny Hills’ first goal.
In the Garden Grove League:
Bolsa Grande 3, Santiago 2--Jose Cueva scored on a breakaway with five minutes left to lift the first-place Matadors (5-1, 7-7) past the Cavaliers at Santiago.
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 1, Estancia 0--David Woodruff scored 15 minutes into the first half to lead the Sailors (4-2, 10-5-1) at Estancia.
Tustin 2, University 1--Goals by Scott Feldman and Matt Alexander led the Tillers (4-0-2, 11-4-3) at Tustin. Casey Cong scored for the Trojans.
In the South Coast League:
Irvine 3, Dana Hills 1--Kevin Rosen, Chris Peterson and Richard Polk scored to lead the Vaqueros (3-1-2, 10-1-6).
In the Sunset League:
Huntington Beach 2, Fountain Valley 0--Steve Redl scored a goal on a penalty kick and had an assist as the Oilers improved to 2-2-2 in Sunset League play.
