Gov. George Deukmejian and a delegation of top state officials and California business leaders arrived in Tokyo for an eight-day trip designed to increase Japanese investment in California and open Japan’s markets to California’s exports. It was Deukmejian’s first overseas trip since his Army days in the early 1950s. “He probably went to bed too early. Deukmejian and his wife, Gloria, plan to spend their first full day in Japan sightseeing.
