Bishop Amat’s Bieniemy Will Attend Colorado

Running back Eric Bieniemy of Bishop Amat High School in La Puente, a two-time All-Southern Section selection and Angelus League player of the year, announced Friday that he will attend the University of Colorado in the fall.
“That’s the place I’ll be able to fit in,” Bieniemy said at the Sports Arena, where he finished third behind Ricky Ervins of Pasadena Muir and W.C. Morrison of Pasadena in the football 60-yard dash of the Sunkist Invitational track meet. “That’s the place where I can have a new beginning.”
Bieniemy, a strong breakaway threat at Bishop Amat, was left alone by many colleges because of his size (5 foot 7 1/2 inches and 190 pounds). He considered a trip to USC but visited only Colorado before making his decision, which will become official on letter of intent day, Feb. 11.
