Johnson, Bubka Both Set World Indoor Best Marks

OSAKA, Japan — Canada’s Ben Johnson set a world indoor best of 6.44 seconds in the 60-meter dash Thursday at the Yomiuri International Indoor track and field meet.
Johnson topped his own mark of 6.50 seconds, set in the same meet last year.
Sergei Bubka of the Soviet Union set the day’s second indoor world best when he cleared 19 feet 6 1/2 inches in the pole vault. Bubka broke his own mark of 19 feet 6 inches set in New York last February.
