Torrance : New Fire Chief Named

Randall Scott Adams, a 12-year employee of the Torrance Fire Department, has been named fire chief. He will replace Richard DeYoung, who retired in November. Adams, 39, was previously a captain in charge of fire suppression and training. He also served nearly four years as a firefighter with the Gardena Fire Department. His education and training include a fire science degree from Harbor College as well as completion of the High-Rise Incident Command School and the University of Nevada Oil Fire Control School. Adams is a certified fire training instructor and a specialist in IBM computer functions.
