Olympic downhill ski champion Bill Johnson, injured in a practice spill last month in Europe, underwent lower-back surgery Monday in Denver for two ruptured disks.
Johnson, 26, who will miss the rest of the World Cup season, was expected to remain in the hospital for about five days.
