Orange County Prep Soccer : Marina Bounces Back for 2-1 Win

Marina High School rebounded from a quick Edison goal in the first minute to beat the Chargers, 2-1, in the Sunset League boys’ soccer opener for both schools at Huntington Beach.
Edison (0-1, 10-2) took the lead on a goal by Kent Lundberg less than a minute into the game.
Marina fullback Mike Lapper tied the score, 1-1, with two minutes left in the first half, and Ed Gurzi scored the winning goal for the Vikings (1-0, 12-3-2) with about five minutes remaining.
In the Empire League:
Kennedy 2, Katella 0--Jack McConnell, the Irish goalie, recorded his sixth shutout at Kennedy. Scott Matney and Mike Laliberte scored for Kennedy (3-0-1, 6-2-1). Katella is 0-3 in league.
In the Garden Grove League:
Bolsa Grande 6, Santiago 4--Randy Reynaga scored three goals and Sonny Nguyen added two as the Matadors, who had a 6-1 lead, held on. Tony Mendez scored three goals for the Cavaliers.
In nonleague:
El Modena 2, Lynwood 0--Sophomore Kelly McLaughton and senior Mike McConnell scored for the Vanguards (4-3) at home.
Goalie Ed Hill had eight saves for El Modena.
