The first phase of the $10-million Pier 1 Import distribution center at 9160 Buffalo Ave., Rancho Cucamonga, has been completed.
The center, the firm’s largest facility in the United States, will eventually be expanded to cover 411,000 square feet.
Developed by Newport Beach-based Santa Anita Development Corp., the building is situated on a 18.8-acre parcel and consists of a 255,000-square-foot warehouse and an additional 8,300 square feet of office space. About 13.8 acres are being held for future development.
The two-story concrete tilt-up structure was designed by William Simpson Engineering, Newport Beach. Oltmans Construction Co., Whittier, was builder and contractor. Grubb & Ellis represented both Pier 1 and Santa Anita in acquiring the site.
