Christopher Joyce is right (Calendar Letters, Dec. 21). Critics ought to stop picking on Billy Joel about the “wimpy� music he’s been turning out lately. The guy can’t help it. He’s no longer in pain. He turned to mush when he met Christie Brinkley.

I live in fear of what Bruce Springsteen’s next album will be like now that he’s married. Face it . . . guys who are deliriously happy don’t write things like Joel’s “The Stranger� and Springsteen’s “Point Blank.�
