Ranchita
The San Diego County coroner’s office is scheduled to perform an autopsy today on human remains discovered Tuesday in an isolated area near Ranchita in northern San Diego County, authorities said.
Officials could identify neither the age nor sex of the body, nor could they say how long the person had been dead.
County sheriff’s homicide investigators found the body Tuesday morning in a shallow grave after a brief search prompted by an informer’s call, according to a sheriff’s spokesman. The remains were found about 1.7 miles north of Old Mine Road and Montezuma Valley Road.
The remains were taken to the county morgue.
