Tillman Wins, Earns a Title Shot in WBA

LAS VEGAS — Henry Tillman of Los Angeles earned a shot at the World Boxing Assn. light-heavyweight title with a third-round TKO of Stanley Ross of Philadelphia in a scheduled 10-round bout Friday night.
Tillman, ranked No. 6 by the WBA, World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation, improved his record to 14-1 with 10 knockouts. He likely will meet champion Evander Holyfield Feb. 14 at Reno, according to co-promoter Bob Arum.
Tillman, a gold medalist in the heavyweight division in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, had no problem with Ross (10-12-1).
