Architect Wins Grand Award from Concrete Masonry Assn.
Laguna Beach architect Fred M. Briggs won the Grand Award in the first Concrete Masonry Design Awards program, Rebecca L. Binder of Santa Monica won an Honor Award and the Randall/Baylon Partnership of Los Angeles received a Merit Award.
Briggs was honored for the Ontario headquarters of Elixir Industries; Binder was cited for her design of the Binder residence in Playa del Rey, while Randall/Baylon was cited for the Oramerica Inc. headquarters in Burbank.
The contest was sponsored by the Concrete Masonry Assn. of California and Nevada and the California Council, American Institute of Architects.
San Diego received an Honor Award for the San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park Visitor Center and Museum in Escondido.
