To encourage the training of more librarians to serve Southern California’s Latino population, the UCLA Graduate School of Library and Information Science has established a mentor program in cooperation with Reforma, the National Assn. to Promote Library Services to the Spanish-Speaking.
Reforma members, who are Latino librarians with master’s degrees in library science, will serve as mentors, according to chairman Susan Luevano, public services librarian at Rancho Santiago College in Santa Ana.
The program seeks applicants who are bilingual or bicultural, she said.
