Andino Moves Into Surfing Quarterfinals

OCEANSIDE — Dino Andino of San Clemente upset Mike Cruickshank, the defending champion of the Professional Surfing Assn. of America, to advance to the quarterfinals of the Pro-Am surfing event at Oceanside Pier Saturday.
Andino moved into today’s quarterfinals against Chris Mauro of San Clemente. The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals are set for today beginning at 7 a.m.
The Oceanside event is the second stop on the PSAA U.S. Tour.
Others advancing to today’s quarterfinals are Mike Lambresi of Oceanside, Trevor Christ and Todd Martin of Encinitas, Clete Hamilton of Carlsbad, Richard Kenvin of La Jolla and Lonny Brothers of Del Mar. Brothers upset David Barr of Carlsbad.
