Save the Forest
I went to the Carlsbad Mall a couple of days ago, and just before I left the parking lot I had to take a good long look at the eucalyptus forest and the adjoining lagoon. The Santa Ana winds made the forest and lagoon look their best. Then I thought of all those trees being replaced by more condominiums or shops, and it was upsetting.
I have always considered the intersection of California 78 and Interstate 5 the northwest gateway of North County, and I guess I have taken the beauty of that lagoon and forest for granted. But I know that if that forest is cut down, it will be a loss for the people of all of North County, especially those in Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad and Encinitas.
I’ve read about the group that is still working to keep some of the beauty of this area intact. There are a lot of people outside of Carlsbad hoping and praying that you folks will be successful.
Good luck!
