The Region : 109 More County AIDS Cases Confirmed
Another 109 cases of AIDS were reported in Los Angeles County last month, bringing to 2,360 the number of victims of the acquired immune deficiency syndrome, health officials said. The death toll, meanwhile, rose to 1,382, or nearly 60%. A child under the age of 5 was one of the new AIDS victims confirmed in October, increasing the number of afflicted youngsters to 15, the report by Director of Health Services Robert Gates said. Los Angeles County has the nation’s third-largest number of AIDS cases, following New York and San Francisco.
