San Diego Section Tennis : Straight-Set Wins Are the Norm
SAN DIEGO — The eight top-seeded players had straight-set victories Wednesday in the first day of San Diego Section girls’ tennis playoffs at Bishop’s School in La Jolla.
Top-seeded Cammie Foley of Bonita Vista defeated Desiree Johnson of Patrick Henry, 6-0, 6-1. No. 2 Shannon Crockett of Bishop’s beat Debbie Britton of Grossmont, 6-1, 6-0. No. 3 Zeena Prabhakar (Bonita Vista), No. 4 Mimi Burgos (University City), No. 5 Carla Quaresma (Poway), and No. 6 Laura Johnson (Vista) each had 6-0, 6-0, victories.
The second round begins at 1 p.m. today, and the quarterfinals will follow.
