Voting

I am appalled by City Councilman Richard Alatorre’s proposal to bribe voters by making the Friday after Election Day a holiday for those who voted.
Voting is a privilege that people in many parts of the world, and more recently in the United States, (blacks and women) would give almost anything to have.
The solution for the non-voting problem is for the politicians to give back to the people faith in our system. Voters, and non-voters, believe politicians serve their own interest, and those who buy them, rather than the people. They feel they can’t beat the present system, so why waste their time at the voting booth.
