El Toro Finishes Perfect Season as No. 1 in Poll

El Toro High School, the only Orange County team with a 10-0 record, finished as the top-ranked team in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. high school football poll.
Loara, which has only a 14-14 tie with Esperanza blemishing its record, finished second. Three Empire League teams--Loara, Los Alamitos and Esperanza--were represented in the poll.
Bolsa Grande moved into the poll at 10th after upsetting La Quinta, 28-17. The victory gave the Matadors their first outright league title in school history.
Westminster (5-4-1), the preseason choice as the county’s No. 1 team, failed to make the top 10.
