John McEnroe began a 42-day suspension and said he was looking forward to the rest after playing tennis almost nonstop since coming off a six month break from the sport in August.
McEnroe, whose $3,000 fine at the Paris Open last month put him over the permitted $7,500 limit for the year, will play in one more event this year, an eight-man exhibition tournament in Atlanta.
“I’ve got one more event to play, then I’m going to take some time off from tennis. I need to get away from it a little.”
