Culver City : Council Raises Taxi Rates

The City Council has set new taxi rates, raising the fare drivers can charge from $1.50 for the first one-seventh of a mile to $1.80 for the first 1/8 of a mile. The 20-cent rate for each additional seventh of a mile will be charged for each eigth of a mile. Waiting time will go up from 20 cents to 30 cents a minute.
The city decided to raise taxi rates after reviewing those of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Inglewood and Hawthorne, the staff reported. The city last increased taxi rates in January, 1983.
