MGM/UA Communications has named longtime television executive Norman Horowitz to the new position of president of its telecommunications division.
Sidney H. Sapsowitz, who heads the division and is MGM/UA senior executive vice president, said Horowitz would oversee both the television syndication and home video operations for MGM/UA.
From 1970 until 1980, Horowitz was president of worldwide distribution for Columbia Pictures, where he began his career in 1956. In 1980, he founded Polygram Television and was its first president and chief operating officer. Since 1984, he has operated his own TV distribution and co-production entity, Norman Horowitz Co.
