Suit to Control Pupils’ Reading

To be narrow-minded, bigoted or stupid may be an American right, but it certainly is not something to be encouraged by the public schools. In fact, our schools will be remiss in their duties by not requiring all students to delve into the richness of literature from Shakespeare, Hans Christian Andersen, or “The Diary of Anne Frank.”
Our pluralistic society demands such standards and I, as a taxpaying citizen, should be able to sue any school district that does not provide all students with such enlightenment. One does not have to agree with all great ideas handed down to us, but to allow a segment of society to keep its young people from either a medical vaccination or enlightenment is a threat to our safety and democratic institutions. Our future voters must be fully educated.
Judge Hull’s decision is the greatest book-burning event in American history and must be reversed.
