Redondo Beach : Salary Raises Approved
With Councilwoman Marcia Martin dissenting, the City Council on Tuesday approved an ordinance setting the salaries of the city clerk and city treasurer at $4,000 a month, an $805 raise.
The increases for the full-time positions--which take effect after the March municipal election--also include a 5% annual salary increase during the four-year terms.
On the motion of Councilman Archie Snow, a resolution delineating hours and responsibilities for both offices will be discussed at a future meeting. Snow said residents had expressed concern over those issues when the pay increases were proposed last month.
The council also will discuss a proposal by Councilman Jack Chapman that council members get the same $270 monthly mileage compensation that is granted to the city attorney, city clerk and city treasurer.
Until recently, council members were limited to $150 a month for mileage. There currently is no limit, but they must file expense reports.
