Burglars ransacked a Warsaw Street home and took more than $320,000 worth of jewelry, stamps and artifacts, a man living there told the Sheriff’s Department Monday.
The victim, who said he is semi-retired, went to church Sunday at noon, said Lt. Robert Rivas of the Sheriff’s Department. When he returned home about 10 p.m., a sliding door was open and “the house had been ransacked.”
A list of stolen items included a stamp collection, jewelry, ivory, a gold-inlaid china set, crystal and chinese vases and statues, Rivas said. “One of the (most) expensive things listed was a Romanian prayer rug. . . . He listed that at about $15,000.”
