Community College Roundup : Rancho Santiago Tops Riverside

Melanie Schuler had 12 kills and 3 aces Wednesday to lead the Rancho Santiago College women’s volleyball team to a 15-12, 15-6, 15-11, win over Riverside City in an Orange Empire Conference match played in the Dons’ gym at Santa Ana. Rancho Santiago is 1-0 in conference, 2-1 overall.
In other Orange Empire volleyball:
Orange Coast 3, Cypress 0--Cindy Thomas had six kills and Gail Schmidt had five to help the Pirates defeat the Chargers, 15-2, 15-4, 15-4, at Orange Coast. The Pirates improve to 1-0 in conference, 5-2 overall.
In South Coast volleyball:
Pasadena City 3, Golden West 2--The Rustlers (3-1, 6-1) lost at Pasadena, 11-15, 15-13, 13-15, 15-8, 15-12.
