The Nation : Dan Rather Beaten in N.Y.
CBS newsman Dan Rather was attacked and beaten by two well-dressed men who accosted him as he walked home from a friend’s apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, police said. He was treated at Lenox Hill Hospital for blows to the jaw and the side of his back, and was released, a hospital administrator said. A police spokesman said Rather, 54, was approached by two men, one of whom reportedly asked, “Kenneth, what’s the frequency?†Rather said: “I think you have the wrong guy.†The man then punched Rather, knocking him to the ground. Rather ran into a building but was followed by the man, who knocked him down and kicked him.
