El Segundo 6, Calabasas 0---- Calabasas won the yardage battle, but El Segundo won the nonleague game at El Segundo.
With 1:34 left in the game, El Segundo quarterback Joe Montanez scored from one yard out for the game’s only touchdown on a muddy field.
The Coyotes (1-2-1) had 176 yards on offense, sacked Montanez four times, intercepted three passes, and held El Segundo to 87 total yards.
Calabasas’ best chance to score was spoiled when Coyote quarterback Darren Del’Andrae fumbled on the El Segundo one-yard line late in the first half.
The El Segundo (2-2) score came after Montanez passed to tight end Drew Sherrill, who pitched the ball to tailback Cameron Buck who ran the ball to the one.
