A newborn baby girl, believed to be 45 minutes to 2 hours old, was found alive in a dumpster Thursday evening.
The infant, who was wrapped in a plastic bag before being placed in the dumpster, is reported to be in fair condition at Children’s Hospital. Attempts to locate the parents of the baby have been unsuccessful, National City Police Lt. Penu Pauu said.
Pauu said some children were playing in the 900 block of Pleasant Lane when they heard a baby crying. One of the children’s parents called police, and they found the baby a short time later. She was transported to Paradise Valley Hospital emergency room, and later transfered to Children’s Hospital.
“She is reported to be fine but her body temperature had gone down so much she needed a lot of warming up,†Pauu said.
