Santa Ana : Man Wounded in Leg by Shot From Passing Car
An 18-year-old Santa Ana man was shot from a passing car Sunday night in what police are investigating as a possible gang-related incident.
The victim, Albert Rodriguez, is not a gang member, Maureen Thomas, a police spokeswoman, said Monday.
Rodriguez was walking east in the 1400 block of West Highland St. about 10:30 p.m. Sunday when three or four shots were fired at him from the side window on the passenger’s side of a passing car--a large, dark-colored model.
Rodriguez, who lives a few blocks from where he was shot, was hit by one bullet and wounded in the thigh. He was taken by his mother to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, Thomas said.
“We are investigating whether it is a gang-related shooting but we haven’t confirmed that,†Thomas added.
