For the second time, Disneyland has agreed to an out-of-court settlement of a lawsuit filed by the family of a man who was stabbed to death in the park in 1981, park officials said. An Orange County jury awarded the mother and brother of Mel C. Yorba $600,000 in July, after finding that the amusement park failed to provide Yorba with adequate medical care after he was stabbed. The two sides later reached an out-of-court settlement aimed at heading off an appeal by Disneyland. But when a lawyer for Yorba’s relatives announced that settlement two weeks ago, it was repudiated by a Disneyland attorney who said the announcement violated terms of the settlement calling for secrecy. A hearing on a motion for a new trial in Orange County Superior Court was canceled at the request of park attorneys, who said the case had been resolved.
