Inspectors from the Internal Revenue Service, assisted by La Mesa police, arrested a man Monday morning on suspicion of “resisting or impeding federal officers in the performance of their duties,†said a spokeswoman with the IRS office in Mission Viejo.
Charles Rowe was arrested at his business, the La Mesa Pet Hotel in the 8100 block of Center Drive in La Mesa, for allegedly trying to impede an IRS officer from seizing the business Sept. 10, said IRS spokeswoman Sarah Wreford. At the time of the incident, the business was being seized by IRS Revenue Officer Edward Peterman because of unpaid federal tax liens imposed due to non-payment of federal employment taxes.
