Jack Ingram, points leader in NASCAR’s Grand National Series, has been suspended indefinitely from all NASCAR competition and fined $5,000 for intentionally ramming another car Sunday in a race at New Asheville Speedway in North Carolina.
NASCAR officials ruled that Ingram’s conduct in the incident that sent driver Ronnie Pressley to the hospital was detrimental to the sport.
Ingram, 49, of Asheville, N.C., also faces criminal charges for resisting arrest after the incident. He is accused of three counts of assault on a law-enforcement officer and one count of disorderly conduct.
