A 20-year-old Chula Vista man who had been living in Cerritos with his fiancee and her family has been identified as one of the people killed in the crash of an Aeromexico DC-9 last Sunday.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office Saturday officially identified 10 more victims, including six killed on the ground.
Freeman Jackson; his girlfriend, Sandra Starr; her mother, and her stepfather were among the dead listed.
Jackson, a Pima Maricopa Indian, and Starr, 19, were to be married Oct. 10.
Robin LittleCloud, Jackson’s mother, said her son had been scheduled to leave the Cerritos home of Howard and Sharon Yackatooahnipah two hours before the airliner crashed into the home.
Jackson had promised to drive to San Diego to visit LittleCloud and was scheduled to arrive in Chula Vista about noon--about the time that the jet crashed into the Holmes Avenue residence where the four were living.
LittleCloud drove to Cerritos the day of the crash, trying to locate her son. She was unable to enter the neighborhood and was told that the Holmes Avenue house was not listed as one which was damaged or destroyed in the crash. However, Los Angeles coroner’s deputies called her several days after the crash, asking for her son’s dental charts and description of any identifying jewelry he might be wearing.
The woman, an attendant at a Chula Vista convalescent hospital, was officially notified Saturday of her son’s death.
