The Labor Day weekend airing of the “Jerry Lewis Telethon” for the Muscular Dystrophy Assn. has become a tradition, and this year Lewis takes up the cause again.
The 21st annual event will air live for 22 hours, starting Sunday at 6 p.m. and ending Monday--Labor Day--at 4 p.m.
Stations carrying the telethon include KTTV Channel 11 (Los Angeles); KCST Channel 39 (San Diego); KESQ Channel 42 (Palm Springs); KSBY Channel 6 (Santa Barbara/Santa Maria/San Luis Obispo).
Lewis and Ed McMahon will anchor from telethon headquarters in Las Vegas, and there will be regular cutaways for local portions. Anchoring in Los Angeles will be Chad Everett and Leigh Taylor-Young.
