El Segundo, which qualified for the American Legion regional playoffs when Woodland Hills was ruled ineligible, was defeated Friday in the second round of the World Series in Rapid City, S.D.
Jensen Beach, Fla., defeated El Segundo, 6-0. That sent El Segundo to the losers’ bracket in the double-elimination tournament.
After finishing third in the state playoffs, El Segundo (38-8) replaced Woodland Hills when the Legion’s national office in Indianapolis ruled Aug. 14 that the team was ineligible because of recruiting violations.
El Segundo made three errors Friday, while Jensen Beach raised its record to 49-12 with a 10-hit attack and errorless defensive play.
