County Riding Center Gets Award for Disabled Youngsters Program
The Orange County Riding Center’s program for disabled youngsters has received the prestigious Delta Society Model Program Award for its work in human and animal bonding.
The society made the award last week to the San Juan Capistrano therapeutic horseback riding facility during the society’s international conference in Boston on “Living Together: People, Animals, and the Environment.â€
The Delta Society, based in Renton, Wash., is a nonprofit organization which operates service, education and research programs around the globe on improving interaction between humans and animals. This interaction takes place year-round at the Orange County Riding Center for riders ranging in age from preschoolers to adults.
The program serves persons with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, paraplegia, sight and hearing impairments and developmental disabilities.
