The self-exiled leader of a Muslim separatist revolt in the southern Philippines will return to his country next week for talks with President Corazon Aquino, a presidential emissary said. Agapito Aquino, the president’s brother-in-law, said he talked with Nur Misuari, the head of the Moro National Liberation Front, in Jidda, Saudi Arabia, last week and Misuari agreed to meet the Philippine leader. Agapito Aquino said Misuari might negotiate for political autonomy instead of secession, which the government has rejected outright. It was not immediately clear where or when the talks would take place.
