MGM/UA and HBO signed a TV licensing pact.
Under the agreement, Home Box Office will get non-exclusive pay-television rights to up to 72 movies from MGM/UA Communications during the next four years. Under some circumstances, the films might appear exclusively on HBO. The first MGM/UA film to be shown on HBO will be “Rocky IV.†The deal could be worth more than $300 million to MGM/UA, the company said.
