‘Hotel of Presidents’ Reopens in Washington

WASHINGTON — The Willard Hotel, closed in 1968 by inner-city decay and race rioting, reopened with a $113-million face lift Wednesday. The 12-story baroque structure, known as the “hotel of presidents,” was completed in 1904, but various hotels have stood on the site since 1816.
