An RTD bus driver was charged with a Vehicle Code infraction after prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence to prove that he intentionally rammed his bus into a car. Prosecutors said there was also insufficient evidence to prove that Michael Mitchell, 33, was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the Aug. 9 collision in Sierra Madre. Instead of more serious charges, Mitchell was charged with overtaking and passing a car in an unsafe manner. He is scheduled to appear in Municipal Court on Sept. 4. Mitchell had been arrested on suspicion of deliberately ramming his bus into a car driven by a 27-year-old woman who was with her three children. They were not hurt.
