Hong Kong Cholera-Free

HONG KONG — Hong Kong was declared free of cholera Tuesday, 17 days after it was designated an infected zone, health officials said. A spokesman for the Medical and Health Department said there were 22 confirmed cholera cases but that no new cases have been found since Aug. 6. He said the government will continue to check food vendors, suspected to be a cause of the outbreak.
