Violence broke out after a brief court appearance in the Irish Republic by a Protestant member of Parliament from Northern Ireland accused of attacking Irish police officers during a cross-border raid last week. A small group of Protestants who accompanied lawmaker Peter Robinson from Northern Ireland scuffled with Roman Catholics outside the Dundalk District Court.
