Moviegoers Giving ‘Howard’ the Duck

Looks like the special-effects folks who put Howard the Duck together left off a critical part of his anatomy: Howard’s got no legs.
In its second weekend at the box office, “Howard” slipped 48%, taking in just $3.5 million at 1,563 theaters. In its first 10 days, the movie has managed to take in only $10.8 million. The moral of the story: Don’t count your ducks until they hatch.
Meanwhile, “Aliens” maintained its foothold on the No. 1 position, taking in $5.8 million at 1,395 theaters, a drop-off of only 18%. In its first 27 days, “Aliens” has taken in a solid $50 million.
“Top Gun,” which now has its sights set on the $150-million mark, has taken in $115 million in 89 days. Incredibly, the movie fell only 1% last weekend grabbing $3.4 million at 1,281 theaters. People are going back for return trips on this one.
