Rhode Island residents welcomed fair weather as they began cleaning up debris from the tornadoes and violent storms that rampaged across New England for two days. Strong thunderstorms moved out of Rhode Island and up the New England coast to Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. Meanwhile, thunderstorms began churning over parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley, where a tornado watch was posted for parts of Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota.
