Doctors in Iran

As a member of the American Medical Assn., I would like to inform you of the rising danger for the Iranian medical community, in particular several members of the Iranian Medical Council have been arrested and tortured beyond belief.

As you are probably aware, arrest and torture in Iran by the cruel government is not new, but terror and chaos have been generalized, endangering the medical personnel. Physicians in particular are in a very dangerous situation, for no evident reason except that the Iranian Medical Council is standing for professional ethics, human values and freedom.

The Iranian government, taking advantage of not being challenged by international intervention, is killing innocent masses without trial. It is our information that several eminent members of the Iranian Medical Council were arrested, abused and injured by the government to the point of being hospitalized after the illegal dissolution of the council.

I sincerely request help from the AMA, if possible, in raising our voice against these types of inhuman actions, in particular when it is against medical personnel and condemning this government for its animosity against human beings.
