Norwalk : Drunk Driving Checkpoint
Norwalk sheriff’s deputies arrested 12 people last week at a drunk driving crackdown on Imperial Highway.
The checkpoint, the first in 10 years, supplemented an existing program to curb drunk drivers, Sgt. Bill Hanna said. There are no plans to continue the checkpoints regularly, he said, adding that the roadblock was set up at the request of Mayor Robert White.
In the existing program, deputies patrol the cities of Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs and La Mirada, looking solely for drunk drivers, he said.
