New York Met third baseman Ray Knight...
New York Met third baseman Ray Knight was fined $1,000 and Cincinnati Red outfielder Eric Davis $500 for their roles in a bench-clearing brawl in a game last Tuesday, according to Newsday.
Quoting unnamed sources with the Mets and the National League, the Long Island newspaper said that five others were fined in the incident, which began after Davis slid into third base. Davis and Knight exchanged shoves and Knight then hit Davis, prompting both benches to empty.
Also fined, according to Newsday, were Met Kevin Mitchell, $300, and Reds Mario Soto and John Denny, $300 apiece, and Joe Price, $200.
